Crews battle 'out-of-control' wildfire in Queens County - New York News Beep

Firefighters are on the scene of an out-of-control wildfire in the Queens County community of East Port L’Hebert, N.S.

Nova Scotia’s Department of Natural Resources told CBC News in an email just after 6 p.m. on Wednesday that the fire is estimated to be three hectares in size.

The province’s four new 802 fixed wing air tankers, bird dog and a DNR helicopter are on site along with DNR firefighters and three volunteer fire departments, the department said.

The Region of Queens Municipality is asking residents to stay away from the area “to allow firefighters to do their work.”

“If there is a change in the situation, we will post an update,” a Facebook post from the Region of Queens said.

The fire comes as Nova Scotia experiences its first hot day of the year.

Environment Canada issued a heat warning for Queens County that is expected to remain in place until the evening on Wednesday evening.

Temperatures were expected to reach 32 C on Wednesday.
