BROOKLYN, N.Y. (PIX11) — A man who escaped from police custody near a Brooklyn courthouse on Tuesday has been apprehended, police said.
Dayshen Richardson, 21, was arrested in Brooklyn at around 11 a.m. Wednesday and charged with felony escape from police custody, according to the NYPD. It was unclear how he was found.
Richardson was being transported from the 73rd Precinct in Brooklyn on Tuesday when he escaped near Brooklyn Criminal Court on Schermerhorn Street at around 1:15 p.m., according to the NYPD.
Richardson was being sought for allegedly assaulting an NYPD officer at 23 New Lots Ave. when he was arrested on Monday, cops said. The officer suffered minor injuries while taking the suspect into custody. The details of that incident were not available.
Excluding the new arrests, the suspect has five prior arrests for domestic violence incidents, including assault and violating an order of protection, according to the NYPD.
Richardson was arraigned on the assault charges and pleaded not guilty, according to court records.
His attorney could not immediately be reached.
