Multiple lightning strikes were recorded over New York City as a powerful thunderstorm rolled in on Wednesday evening, May 20, signaling an end to several days of scorching heat.
Dramatic footage captured by Debora Domass in north Brooklyn shows the massive storm bearing down over the city, bringing heavy rain, gusty winds, and numerous lightning strikes, including one right over One World Trade Center.
NYC Emergency Management warned New Yorkers to stay alert to the threat of flash flooding and damaging winds.

“If you live in a basement, low-lying area, or a place that has flooded before, move early. Do not wait to see water. If flooding begins, move to a higher floor right away,” the agency said.
