GRAVESEND, Brooklyn (PIX11) — At Kings Highway and Avenue S, a massive tree toppled from the sidewalk, uprooted, and fell across the walkway and into the bike lanes.
As of early Thursday morning, the street remains closed to vehicular traffic.
Cars are having to make U-turns and head back down the street as people start making their way to school and work.
People were wading through the flood waters, nearly up to their knees, in Bushwick, Brooklyn, on Wednesday.
The MTA had to suspend service on parts of the F and J subway lines, and the storm also brought down trees.

On West 11th Street in Brooklyn, cars were forced to drive around large branches in the roadway as downed trees were reported throughout the area.
Winds were reported to have gusted over 30 miles an hour at times.
Thousands across the tri-state were without power at the height of Wednesday’s storm. Things are now appearing to be returning to normal.
