NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) — Three people were found dead and multiple others were injured, including firefighters, in fires that broke out throughout New York City overnight, according to the fire department.
The first incident broke out in the Bronx, where one person was pronounced dead, and two others were taken to the hospital with minor injuries after a fire at 226 West Tremont Ave. just before 1:30 a.m., fire officials said.

The fire appeared to start on the top floor of the 6-story building and spread to a neighboring apartment, the FDNY reported.
Hours later, another fire broke out in Queens, leaving one civilian in critical condition, another with serious injuries and 4 firefighters with minor injuries at 87-62 188 St. just before 5:30 a.m., according to the fire department.
About an hour later, in Brooklyn, two people were killed in a fire at 1693 Nostrand Ave. around 6:50 a.m., fire officials tell PIX11. Two other civilians were taken to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, an FDNY spokesperson said.

The cause of each fire remains under investigation.
The incidents come after an explosion on Staten Island killed one and injured more than 30 people, including firefighters, New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani said on Friday.
Fire officials have said that fire-related deaths in 2026 have already surpassed deaths around the same time last year.
