Bronx detectives are investigating a deadly shooting early on Sunday morning that claimed a man’s life.
Police said the bloodshed occurred at about 12:17 a.m. on May 24 in front of an apartment building at 2201 Haviland Ave. near the Cross Bronx Expressway service road in Parkchester.
Officers from the 43rd Precinct rushed to the location after receiving a 911 call about the shooting. When they arrived, witnesses informed them that moments earlier, a 29-year-old man had been shot in the chest.
The wounded victim had been brought via private means to St. Barnabas Hospital, but he died there a short time later. Police have not yet released the man’s identity, pending family notification.
So far, no arrests have been made in the ongoing investigation, police said.

Through May 17, the 43rd Precinct had reported just one homicide year-to-date, down from four at the same point last year. Shootings were also down nearly 45%, from 9 incidents in 2025 to 5 in 2026.
