SOCCER fans hoping to get their hands on $50 Word Cup tickets were left upset this morning after trying and failing to enter the New York resident lottery.
New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani announced earlier this month that he had secured 1,000 affordable Word Cup tickets for New Yorkers.

However, several soccer ticket hopefuls encountered technical issues while trying to sign up as their zip codes were being flagged as invalid.
To be eligible for a ticket you must live in one of the five boroughs of New York.
New Yorkers are able to enter the lottery once a day for a chance to buy up to two tickets at the NYC Resident Registration website.
Only 50,000 hopefuls are able to enter each day.

When the lottery opened at 10am on May 25 the 50,000 capacity was reached within minutes.
This left some New York residents angry after they spent time entering their zip codes repeatedly and getting an error message.
Although the error message was said to be an issue with the FEVO ticketing platform, one angry soccer fan described the glitch as “mass discrimination.”
One X user claimed that even the zip code for Gracie Mansion, the residence of the New York mayor, was not being accepted as a valid address.
“The NYC resident World Cup ticket lottery registration doesn’t have my zip code as valid. It only goes up to 10040 for Manhattan, and my zip code is 10075. FYI, also excluded is Gracie Mansion, where the zip code is 10128,” one X user wrote.
“Heads up that the NYC resident World Cup ticket lottery didn’t list my zip code as valid and I missed registration today,” another said.
With another angry ticket hopeful writing: “The Roosevelt Island resident cannot register at http://regnnyctix.com because our zip code 10044 is not recognized as a valid one! Hope this will be fixed before tomorrow.”
The U.S. Sun flagged the zip code issue to the mayor’s office.
A spokesperson for the Mayor’s press office responded: “This morning, the 50,000 registration limit was reached in just three minutes.
“New Yorkers will have the opportunity to register to enter the ticket lottery each morning at 10:00 AM until Saturday, May 30th. Winners will be notified on June 3rd.”
