Cops from the 111th Precinct on Northern Boulevard in Bayside are looking for a hit-and-run driver who struck a woman a half-mile away and drove off after checking on her condition.

Police from the 111th Precinct in Bayside are looking for a hit-and-run driver who was caught on camera in broad daylight checking to see the condition of the 62-year-old woman he struck during the evening of Friday, May 15, before getting back into his SUV and leaving the scene of a collision.
Police say the crash occurred at around 7 p.m. just over a half mile away from the precinct when the victim was crossing the intersection of 221st Street and 43rd Avenue in Bayside. The suspect was behind the wheel on a 2020 white Mazda bearing New York license plate #LDM9088 when he allegedly slammed into her. He got out of his SUV and found the woman lying on the roadway with injuries to her face, torso, knees and legs. With other vehicles at the intersection stopped at the intersection, the motorist jumped back into his Mazda and sped away from the scene.
EMS responded to the scene of the crash and rushed the injured woman to New York-Presbyterian Queens Hospital, where she was listed in stable condition.
The NYPD released surveillance video of the suspect leaving the scene and described him as having a light complexion with black hair. He was last seen wearing a black jacket, dark pants and sunglasses.
A reward of up to $3,500 is being offered for information that leads to his arrest and indictment.

Through May 24, the 111th Precinct has reported 29 collisions so far in 2026, three fewer than the 32 reported at the same point last year, a decline of 3%, according to the most recent CompStat report. Fourteen people were injured in those collisions, a half dozen fewer than the number of collision victims at the same point in 2025, a decrease of 6%, according to CompStat.
