NEW YORK (PIX11) — Alternate Side Parking will be suspended for a couple of days, according to New York City 311.

When alternate-side parking is in effect, drivers cannot park on the side of the street being cleaned. These rules apply for the entire time posted on the sign, even after a street sweeper has passed.

When Alternate Side Parking is suspended, these rules do not apply.

It will be suspended on Wednesday, May 27th, and Thursday, May 28th. This is because the major Islamic holiday Eid al-Adha.

Eid commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s (Abraham) unwavering faith and devotion to Allah, according to Muslim Aid.

Although side parking is suspended, parking meters will still be in effect.
