A Brooklyn man was arrested and charged with rape and other crimes for allegedly sexually assaulting a Ridgewood woman in her apartment after threatening her with a boxcutter.

Police from the 104th Precinct in Ridgewood arrested a Brooklyn man on Saturday, May 9, for raping a young woman at knifepoint in her apartment earlier that day.
Jeferson Tipantuna, 25, of Bushwick, was arraigned in Queens Criminal Court the next day on a criminal complaint charging him with two counts of rape in the first degree, sexual abuse in the first degree, assault in the second degree, and criminal possession of a weapon.
According to the criminal complaint, on the morning of May 9, Tipantuna was in the 22-year-old victim’s apartment in the vicinity of Seneca Avenue and George Street in Ridgewood when he demanded she undress and have sex with him. When she refused, Tipantuna allegedly pulled out a boxcutter and held it to her chest and forced her to perform oral sex on him. When the victim tried to knock the boxcutter out of Tipantuna’s hand, a struggle ensued and he cut her finger with the boxcutter. He proceeded to rape the victim vaginally before fleeing her residence, according to the complaint. EMS transported the victim to an area hospital, where she was listed in stable condition.
When cops from the 104th Precinct spotted him nearby after he had fled the victim’s apartment, he still had the boxcutter in his hand. He dropped in on the ground when ordered to and police recovered the weapon.
He was arraigned before Queens Criminal Court Judge Micahel Hartofilis who set bail at $25,000 cash and $50,000 bond.
