On October 30, 2025, New York State Police at Binghamton arrested Riley M. Merrick, age 32 of Candor, NY for the misdemeanors of False Personation and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the seventh degree.  

Troopers initiated a traffic stop after they observed a vehicle cross over the center pavement markings while on Conklin Road in the town of Conklin.  

While interviewing the operator, he provided a false name.  Troopers determined that Merrick was lying about his name because he has an active arrest warrant with the Elmira City Police Department.  He was arrested and also found in possession of suspected illegal drugs.  

Merrick was transported to SP Binghamton, processed and scheduled to appear at the Conklin Town Court on November 13, 2025.  Merrick was then turned over to the Elmira City Police Department to answer to his arrest warrant.  Â
