Rifle volleys were fired in Woodside on Memorial Day, Monday, May 25, in honor of the service members who died while serving our country. Woodside Memorial Park, located in the Woodside Memorial Triangle in Queens, is a dedicated space honoring members of the Woodside community who served and died in major U. S. conflicts, including World War I, World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. Catholic War Veterans Post 870 held their annual ceremonies on May 25 at the park, with wreaths being laid in honor of the service members who died. Wreaths were also laid at the Vietnam War Memorial (57th Street and Woodside Avenue) and Doughboy Park (Woodside Avenue between 54th and 56th Streets). Additional photos page 2.
