Hip-Hop artist Nas and Resorts World New York City have announced a combined $2 million donation to support the construction of The Hip Hop Museum in the Bronx, according to a press release.
The announcement was made during the museum’s second annual benefit gala and reflects Resorts World’s 15-year record of supporting cultural institutions across New York City’s five boroughs.
The contribution will support the museum’s ongoing capital campaign as it moves toward a 2026 opening. Located at 585 Exterior St. within the Bronx Point complex — a mixed-use building that includes affordable housing, public spaces, and cultural facilities, per the Bronx Times — The Hip Hop Museum is intended to serve as a center for community, education, and the preservation of hip-hop’s global legacy.
“Hip Hop has always reflected the culture of New York City, from its emergence in the Bronx to Queens’ own, Nas,” said Kevin Jones, chief legal and chief strategy officer at Resorts World New York City, in the release.
As previously reported by AFROTECH™ in 2024, Nas has partnered with Resorts World and its parent company, Genting Americas, on a $5 billion expansion plan in Queens. The plan has since grown to $5.5 billion and was approved by the community advisory board in September 2025, per our recent report.
Alongside the casino, Nas emphasized that the museum represents a significant milestone for Hip Hop culture.
“Building this Hip Hop Museum is something our culture has needed for a long time,” he said in the Resorts World press release.
“It’s powerful to see a space being created to preserve that history and to educate and inspire the next generation. Being able to contribute alongside Resorts World to help bring this vision to life is an honor. This museum stands as a reminder of where we came from, and a celebration of everything Hip Hop continues to be,” he added.
Rocky Bucano, founder and CEO of The Hip Hop Museum, said the $2 million gift from Nas and Resorts World was a highlight of the gala.
“His generosity supports our capital campaign and brings us closer to opening our doors in 2026. Nas is leading by example, which inspires others to preserve Hip Hop’s global legacy and to help us celebrate and protect this powerful culture,” Bucano said, per the release.
