The caption continued: ‘It is an old tradition that the regent is celebrated on his birthday with a balcony scene in connection with the big changing of the guard – so today on the King’s 58th birthday.’
The whole family dressed the part, with King Frederik looking dapper in a navy suit and pink tie, while Prince Vincent opted for a plaid blazer and powder blue tie. Princess Josephine wore a floral lace maxi dress from Sandro, which she paired with piazza earrings from Sophie Bille Brahe and Unisa Ibon pumps.

But it was Queen Mary whose ensemble truly caught the eye of royal watchers. The much-loved Australian native selected a statement Giorgio Armani blouse that has been in her wardrobe for over two decades. The silvery piece, which boasts a floral embellishment at the collar, was first seen during a very different moment in Queen Mary’s royal career.
Back in March 2005, the then-Crown Princess had only been married to Crown Prince Frederik for a year. Now a mother of four, she was four months pregnant with her first son, Prince Christian, when she stepped out for a cocktail evening at Max Mara in Copenhagen, as a part of the bicentennial celebrations for Hans Christian Andersen.
