The new film “Bookends” is set to have its New York premiere this weekend as part of NewFest Pride.

The film stars Oscar winner F. Murray Abraham and celebrated actress Caroline Aaron and is directed by New York City-based director and actor Mike Doyle. The trio was in conversation with NY1’s Annika Pergament and Frank DiLella on “The Rush Hour” on Wednesday to discuss the project and the NewFest Pride festival.

NewFest Pride runs from May 28 to June 1, with screenings in locations across the city.

“It’s film festivals like this that champion films like this that, as theatrical attendance is diminishing, to sit in a dark room with a bunch of strangers to experience this comedy, this drama, together is really special,” Doyle said.
