Thursday marks one year since federal officials started mass deportation detentions at the federal immigration courthouse in Lower Manhattan.
Last week, a judge blocked the arrest of most immigrants inside the courts, but reports of arrests are continuing despite that order.
Shani Adess, the vice president of the New York Legal Assistance Group, joined NY1 political anchor Errol Louis on “Inside City Hall” Wednesday to talk about the past year of legal battles against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
She is also part of a civil legal services group that represented high-profile cases like that of Dylan Contreras, the first city public school student arrested by ICE agents after a routine immigration hearing.
