A group of Franklin Square residents have filed a federal lawsuit in an effort to stop the building of a stormwater line in connection with the I-81 project.
The suit alleges the state Department of Transportation has not followed federal flood and environmental laws. Their main concern is that the state wants to raise the creek walk by as much as 10 feet to install the stormwater line, but they say the Onondaga Creekwalk is already prone to flooding.
An initial conference between both sides is set for August 19.
The DOT declined to comment.
