One person is dead and another hospitalized after a collision in Queens Village on May 18, said the NYPD.
A preliminary investigation by the NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad determined that a 43-year-old man, operating a 2015 Ford F550, pulled out of a driveway at a housing complex at 229-03 87 Ave. and collided with Vitthalbhai Raghuvir Patel, 70, of 87th Avenue, a pedestrian crossing the avenue.
A 911 call about the crash was made shortly before 9:30 a.m.
Patel suffered severe trauma throughout his body and was rushed by EMS to North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, LI, but he succumbed to his injuries. The driver remained on the scene and was rushed by EMS to Long Island Jewish Medical Center for evaluation.
There were no arrests and an investigation remains ongoing by the CIS.
