(WJAR) — A fire on an Amtrak train in the New York area disrupted travel in the Northeast on Friday.
A spokesperson with Amtrak told NBC 10 that the fire happened on a maintenance train just outside of the Hudson River tunnels.
That caused all rail service between New York and New Jersey to be temporarily suspended starting at 1:25 a.m.
That is expected to continue through the afternoon. This means Amtrak service north and east of New York is “temporarily reduced” the spokesperson said.
That is affecting numerous trains, and some scheduled departures have already been canceled.
