A new investigative interactive report is shedding light on immigration-related arrests in New York and New Jersey under the Trump administration.
TheCityReporter.nyc reviewed 1,200 lawsuits stemming from ICE arrests and detentions, focusing on enforcement patterns in the region. The analysis found that the majority of people arrested on the street were from Latin American countries.
Of the 1,200 cases reviewed, 430 involved so-called “street arrests,” and 402 of those individuals were Latino, or about 93%. The reporting also found differences in enforcement depending on the location and circumstances of detentions.
Rosalind Adams, one of the reporters behind the investigation, joined “Mornings On 1” to discuss the findings, the data analysis behind the work and what it reveals about immigration enforcement trends in the region.
