A popular NYC-based fitness brand is making moves across the Hudson. Chelsea Piers Fitness will open its first Garden State location at Jersey City’s Arts + Powerhouse Building, located at 124-134 Bay Street. About Chelsea Piers Fitness
Chelsea Piers is an instantly recognizable part of the shoreline on the Manhattan side of the Hudson River. The facility started life as an actual pier for ocean liners. Pier 54 of Chelsea Piers was where the boat carrying survivors of the Titanic disaster disembarked. Over time, the facility fell into disrepair.

In the early 1990s, developers purchased Piers 59-62 to create the multi-modal Chelsea Piers facility located at 23rd Street + Hudson River Park. There are three multi-sport facilities in Manhattan, and five other locations in New York City and Connecticut. The Chelsea location has a 150,000 square-foot fitness club and facilities for golf, ice skating, swimming, gymnastics, private events, and more.
What We Know
A source with information about the project shared with The Hoboken Girl that Chelsea Piers will take 60,000 square feet in the Arts + Powerhouse Building. This will include a rooftop pool among other amenities. Other tenants in the building include Rumble Boxing, One Medical, Hudson Golf, Tacombi, and Daily Provisions.
