A massive state investment is coming to Monroe County.
Members of the Greater Rochester Majority State Delegation, including Assemblymember Sarah Clark, Assemblymember Jen Lunsford, Assemblymember Harry Bronson, Assemblymember Demond Meeks, state Sen. Jeremy Cooney and state Sen. Samra Brouk, say the recently approved state budget includes a historic $300 million capital investment for the area.
A highlight of the “Rochester-Monroe Transformation Initiative” is $75 million toward the development of High Falls State Park.
The rest of the money will go toward a series of infrastructure projects throughout the city and county, including upgrades to public facilities, transportation, street improvements and public safety investments.
“I want to thank Rochester’s legislative delegation for fighting for a New York State Budget that includes much-needed additional funding for our city and drives critical investments in Rochester and Monroe County. The programs and projects funded in this budget will advance our efforts to drive growth, attract investment, and put all our residents on a path to economic mobility and generational wealth,” Rochester Mayor Malik Evans said in a statement.
The state budget was approved by Kathy Hochul late last week after being more than eight weeks late.
