New York state imports billions of dollars in goods each year, according to a recent list from Stacker.

Its top trading partner is Canada, which sent more than $20 billion worth of products to New York in 2024, according to Stacker, which used census data to rank the countries from which New York gets the most imports.

New York’s trade relationship with Canada has been in the spotlight lately.

President Donald Trump has imposed tariffs on a variety of goods and individual nations since returning to office in January, including Canada.

He has also talked repeatedly about making the nation the 51st state.

Trump recently canceled trade talks with Canada over a TV ad there that used a speech by President Ronald Reagan to criticize his tariff policy.
