Monday marks the start of Gun Violence Awareness Month. The summer months are often when law enforcement officials in the city are on high alert trying to prevent a spike in shootings.
Current city officials have touted a drop in violence in recent years. Year to date, shootings in Manhattan are down 60% compared to 2021, with murders down 64%.
Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg joined “Mornings On 1” to discuss gun violence prevention, including some investments in youth violence prevention programs.
