SUNNYSIDE, Queens (PIX11) — One person is dead and another critically injured after a fire broke out early Monday morning at a five-story building in Sunnyside, according to the NYPD.
The fire was reported at 45-08 40th Street around 2:39 a.m.

Fire officials say the fire broke out on the second floor of the building.
Police say a man was declared dead at the scene. Another man was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.
Police say a firefighter was also taken to a local hospital for smoke inhalation.
Officials say the fire was under control at 3:21 a.m. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
