Controversial situation that has arisen regarding the wild cards for the main draw provided by the organization of the WTA 500 Queen´s 2026. Everyone assumed that the current champion, Tatjana Maria, would receive a wild card, but the London tournament has denied it to her. The director herself, Laura Robson, admitted they preferred to invite local players and more renowned tennis players. The German will have to go through the qualifying stage if she wants to defend her title.
