2 duck rescues performed in Queens and Long Island: see it

NEW YORK (PIX11) — There were a pair of duck rescues that happened on Saturday in Queens, then on Monday on Long Island.

Both incidents involved little cute ducklings falling into storm drains, with both mother ducks frantically wanting help.

The first rescue happened around 9 a.m. on Saturday, near the NYPD Police Academy in College Point, Queens, according to police.

Security personnel of the academy observed the mother duck circling a drain.

Video released by the NYPD shows officers saving the tiny ducklings from the storm drain.

In all, 11 ducklings were saved at the scene in Queens, according to the NYPD.

On Monday afternoon, locals were alerted to a mother duck pacing around a storm drain in Lindenhurst, Long Island.

Animal rescuer John DeBacker responded to the scene located at South 14th Street.

DeBacker, with the help of several residents, managed to remove the storm drain grate to gain access to the ducklings and perform the rescue.

10 ducklings were saved altogether at Lindenhurst and were released in the neighborhood, according to DeBacker.

He also says that while there are no ponds nearby, the neighbors have been taking care of the ducks.
