The Broadway League’s Black to Broadway initiative, in partnership with Black Theatre United and BTC: Building The Change, will present the sixth annual Broadway Celebrates Juneteenth concert June 19.
The Great Gatsby‘s Corbin Bleu will host the free outdoor Times Square concert that honors Black artistry,
culture, and unity. An all-Black cast of Broadway artists will take part in the 90-minute event, which begins at 4 PM rain or shine. American Sign Language interpretation will be provided.
The concert will feature soon-to-be-announced cast members from Aladdin;
& Juliet; Buena Vista Social Club; CATS: The Jellicle Ball; The
Great Gatsby; Hadestown; Hamilton; Joe Turner’s Come and Gone; The Lost Boys; MJ the Musical; Moulin Rouge! The Musical; Ragtime; SIX: The Musical;
Titaníque; Two Strangers (Carry a Cake Across New York); and Wicked as well as the upcoming show Wanted and
the return of the kids from Young Gifted and Broadway.
The 2026 Juneteenth Legacy Award will
be presented to Tony nominee, Emmy winner, and Kennedy Center Honoree Debbie Allen, who directed the current Broadway revival of Joe Turner’s Come and Gone. “Through her extraordinary artistry, visionary
leadership, and unwavering commitment to nurturing the next generation,” press note state, “Ms. Allen exemplifies the spirit of the Juneteenth Legacy Award and the lasting influence of a true cultural trailblazer.”
All performances
will be accompanied by live music provided with help from The Music Performance Trust Fund and the Film Funds.
The concert will be held at Duffy Square in Times Square, located between 46th and 47th Streets between Broadway and Seventh Avenue.
