Brooklyn United shut out South Shore FC Milan, 2-0, to win the Boys Under-13 State Cup championship.
This Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association final was played on Saturday, May 30 at the Blue Sky Sports Complex in Middletown, N.Y.
Shiloh Teets scored both goals. Goalkeeper Rio Ortiz recorded the clean sheet, which included a penalty kick saved.
“It was an intense game against a very good opponent. South Shore really challenged us,” Brooklyn United coach Ronald Stanislaus said.
Brooklyn United will represent Eastern New York at the nationals in Salt Lake City from July 16-23.
Brooklyn United also received the Rocco Amoroso Sportsmanship Award as determined by the game officials to add to its growing trophy case. Amoroso, a US Soccer Life Member who died a decade ago, started the Long Island Junior Soccer League Sportsmanship Program in 1980 and it spread to Eastern New York, nationally and then to China and Ireland.
