TYLER, Texas (KETK) — The Texas Rose Festival’s Rose Queen is visiting Tyler ISD elementary schools to read the Queen’s Tea to students and will be attending the Queen’s Tea event on Oct.18, where students of all grades can meet the Queen and her Court.

92nd annual Texas Rose Festival set to kickoff this week

The annual tradition connects the Texas Rose Festival with local schools, giving students the opportunity to learn about community traditions and meet this year’s Rose Queen, Avery Craft Armstrong.

The Texas Rose Festival Queen’s Tea is a beloved community event where guests of all ages can meet the Queen and her Court in the beautiful Tyler Municipal Rose Garden on Saturday, October 18, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. admission is free.

For decades, girls in second grade from across the community have been invited to serve as junior hostesses at the Queen’s Tea. However, all students from every grade are welcome to attend the tradition. Junior hostesses help greet guests, distribute fans, autograph books, maps, and napkins, and provide water, while also assisting with keeping the area tidy throughout the afternoon.

“I’m so excited to invite the entire community to come to my Tea,” Armstrong said. “I hope there will be a lot of first-timers who can come and experience the event in the amazing Rose Garden!”
