NEW YORK (PIX11) – The New York City subway has 36 lines and over 400 stops, serving millions of residents and tourists each year, according to the MTA.

These subway lines operate 24/7 and are part of daily life for most New Yorkers.

Recently, Reddit users took to a thread discussing the most interesting and unique subway station entrances.

Over a dozen subway stops and entrances were submitted, and thousands of votes were cast.

The most popular entrances or stops were identified by selecting the options with the most upvotes on the Reddit thread.

Here are the subway entrances that stood out to Redditors.

The West 8th Street–New York Aquarium subway station –

This was the clear winner, with over 600 people loving it. One Redditor also shared the view from the “balcony.”

One person said, “I love Coney Island, postmodern surreal scene.”

The Astoria–Ditmars Boulevard subway station –

This subway station also had hundreds of likes. One Redditor, thetransitgirl, says that the N and W lines are the coolest because they’ve got an elevated connection to neighboring buildings.

The Ninth Street station on the PATH system –

Though not part of the New York City subway system, the Manhattan entrance has hundreds of likes. According to Reddit users, it can only be accessed through a strikingly long, winding passageway.

The Avenue H subway station on the Q line –

“Gorgeous station,” said one Reddit user.

The Middle Village–Metropolitan Avenue subway station –

“[The] platforms feel like you’re in the middle of Portland or something with the trees everywhere,” said Double_Science_8821.

East 180th Street subway station –

This subway station has over 150 upvotes on the website. One Reddit user, IndependentMacaroon, said the station is like a “mini Italian Renaissance palace.”
