On Thursday, state lawmakers passed a bill aimed at protecting minors from artificial intelligence chatbots.
The legislation prohibits AI features that are considered unsafe for minors.
Last year, 16-year-old Adam Raine of California committed suicide.
According to his mother, Maria Raine, an AI chatbot is to blame for her son’s suicide. She has become an advocate for AI guardrails, including the legislation that passed in Albany.
She joined NY1’s Bobby Cuza on “Inside City Hall” Friday to discuss more.
