Detectives are investigating after an 18-year-old man was shot and killed outside of a Queens NYCHA complex early Sunday morning.

According to police sources, the incident unfolded at approximately 12:16 a.m., directly outside the Woodside Houses at 31-07 49th Street. Cops from the 114th Precinct and Police Service Area 9 rushed to the area after a 911 caller reported an assault in progress.

When officers arrived, they found an 18-year-old man lying on the ground with gunshot wounds to the chest and back. EMS rushed the victim to Elmhurst Hospital, where he could not be saved and was pronounced dead. His identity is being withheld pending proper family notification.

Authorities say they are looking for multiple suspects in connection with the deadly shooting.

According to NYPD data, the number of shootings in the confines of the 114th Precinct are down as of May 31, compared to the same time last year with three shootings taking place in 2026 compared to seven in 2025. Murders were on track for the same amount with two taking place both this year and last year. 

No arrests have been made in this latest incident, and the investigation remains ongoing.
