Graduation and End of School Year Ceremony at Holy Trinity-St. Nicholas Staten Island

STATEN ISLAND, NY – Holy Trinity-St. Nicholas Church of Staten Island honored the community’s Postgraduate, College, High School, Greek and Sunday School graduates on June 7, following the Divine Liturgy.

The graduate of the postgraduate program, John Doyle, the college graduates Maria Bakalexis, Alexandra Doyle, Christopher Lazaretos, and Asimina Mitsopoulos; the high school graduates Michael Roussis and Panagiotis Roussis; the Greek School graduate Sophia Kakias; and the Sunday School graduates Grace Baggs, Kalliope Koukounis, Panagiota Langis, Kathleen Dimitriou, and Fotini Stamos were honored.

At the same time, the end of the school year ceremony took place with the students of all classes receiving their graduation certificates.

The graduates were awarded with cash prizes by Parish Council President Spyros Lazaretos, Philoptochos Society President Dee Sidiropoulos, AHEPA Chapter #349 President Sokratis Dapias, Pancyprian Association Aphrodite of Staten Island President Philip Phytides, and Kritiki Filoxenia President Nicholas Yasparakis.

The community’s presiding priest Fr. Vasileios Apostolidis congratulated the students for their diligence and progress, the teachers for their dedication, and the parents for their support and trust in the schools of the Holy Archdiocese.

He wished the graduates every progress and success in their lives and urged them to never forget the church which will forever be their second home.

Greek School Principal Stavroula Champakis said: “We have reached the end of our school year. Another cycle of experiences is coming to an end. They were months full of reading, laughter, and unique moments with our classmate-friends. Now, we leave the stress behind to welcome the carefree summer with freedom. I wish everyone a happy, pleasant summer and see you in October with new experiences. Congratulations to all our children who gave their best this year, too.”

Parish Council President Spyros Lazaretos warmly congratulated the graduates, noting that the Church and the community will continue to be their spiritual and social support in every step they take in the future.
