Brazil was strong on home soil and simply dominated the Pan American Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships held last weekend in Rio de Janeiro.

Their spectacular performance led the Brazilian gymnasts to a significant medal haul, allowing them to deservedly reach the top of the podium.

They earned the applause by winning 8 gold medals in the Individual All-Around, Individual Teams, Group All-Around, Hoop, Group Routine, Clubs, Ribbon, and Mixed Group.

The team was outstanding in every team performance and stood out in the individual events as well, securing undisputed gold. Such was the case with Bárbara Domingos (29.000 in clubs) and Geovanna Santos (28.950 in hoop and 28.250 in ribbon), who demonstrated all their skill at Arena Carioca 1.

Second place in the overall standings went to the United States thanks to the outstanding performances of its gymnasts Megan Chu and Natalie de la Rosa.

“I think we witnessed a spectacular Pan American Championship. The organization was extraordinary. In terms of results, Brazil once again demonstrated its status as a major powerhouse in rhythmic gymnastics on the continent and worldwide, winning 8 gold medals. The United States also had a strong showing, though it fell short of Brazil. We saw a perfect blend of experience and new talent across all participating teams. I clearly see a high level of competition and that the gap between the major powers and the other countries has narrowed, and that demonstrates the great work being done by the Pan American Gymnastics Union,” said Panam Sports Channel commentator and international gymnastics judge Claudia Perelman.

The Pan American Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships were broadcast live across the Americas via the Panam Sports Channel.
