Ingas Bar in Brooklyn Heights does the whole neighborhood restaurant thing so well that even people who don’t live in Brooklyn Heights end up going there. Sister restaurant Lonnies does the same thing in Boerum Hill, with weeknight-worthy burgers and a dining room that will make you want to brownstone shop.
That burger is juicy but manageable, with pickled onions, and a tartar-like sauce. But don’t overlook the seasonal plates either, like an English pea salad with a creme fraiche vinaigrette and a slab of boucheron on top, tagliatelle with fava beans and asparagus, or smoked mackerel rillettes with green garlic.
You’ll see your fair share of Boerum Hill parents who are “just trying to see what the stroller situation is,” but Lonnies works just as well for a child-free date night or a gossipy small group dinner. Do a deep dive of their cocktail menu too—their take on a piña colada (which swaps the rum for Mexican mango gin) is a good place to start, while a dirty martini, with meaty gordal olives and a housemade brine, is an obvious burger pairing.
