South Korean pop star Ivy will make her Broadway debut in Chicago this summer, performing at the Ambassador Theatre for three weeks only from August 17 to September 6.
Ivy has performed in over a dozen musicals in South Korea, including Chicago, for which she won the 2012 Korean Musical Award for Best New Actress. She played Roxie Hart, the role she will also perform on Broadway. As a solo musician, she has released three studio albums and two EPs and won multiple Korean music awards.
She will succeed Krysta Rodriguez, who plays Roxie from June 15 to August 16. The current Chicago cast also includes Sophie Carmen-Jones as Velma Kelly, Nik Walker as Billy Flynn (through June 21; Matteo Lane joins June 22), Jacqueline B. Arnold as Matron “Mama” Morton, Greg Hildreth as Amos Hart, and R. Lowe as Mary Sunshine.
One of Broadway’s longest-running productions, Chicago celebrates its 30th anniversary on Broadway this year.
