In light of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, New York City is ringing in the spirit of the tournament with country-inspired train wraps now rolling across the MTA system.
Across all five boroughs, the trains will represent each of the 48 countries competing in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The first FIFA World Cup 2026 branded trains, representing Senegal and France, are already in service on the 1 line. Brazil and Morocco were wrapped and are now in service on the R line. Additional wrapped trains are expected to roll out in the coming days and weeks as the tournament begins.
The initiative, developed by the FIFA World Cup 2026 NYNJ Host Committee, with Mayor Mamdani and the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, is designed to bring energy in a city preparing to welcome millions of visitors.
“When a train wrapped in the colors of Senegal pulls into Harlem, or a subway car carrying Morocco’s flag rolls through Astoria, it tells a story about who we are as New Yorkers,” Mamdani said.
Each train features the colors of each of the 48 competing nations’ flags alongside the Statue of Liberty torch, symbolizing New York City’s excitement in welcoming fans from around the world. The designs were created by Burn & Broad, a New York City-based studio.
“This World Cup will be the biggest and most inclusive tournament in history, and seeing the spirit of participating nations travel through the heart of New York City is a powerful symbol of the unity the game inspires,” said Alex Lasry, CEO of the FIFA World Cup 2026 NYNJ Host Committee.
