SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The 50th Annual Great New York State Model Train Fair rolled into the Expo Center this weekend, drawing thousands of visitors from across the region.

The two-day event, the oldest and largest model train show and sale in New York, featured more than 25 operating layouts, 300 vendor tables, and a miniature train ride for kids. Collectors, hobbyists, and families filled the fairgrounds to celebrate a half-century of model railroading in Central New York.

The event was hosted by the Central New York Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society, with proceeds supporting the preservation and restoration of historic railroad stations and equipment in Martisco, Central Square, and at the New York State Fairgrounds.

Organizers say the fair isn’t just for train enthusiasts, it’s for anyone who appreciates the history and craftsmanship of railroading.
