Heat advisory expected to hit NYC going into weekend. What to know

It’s going to be a hot one, New York City.

Extreme heat is expected to hit the city soon after a mild week gave New Yorkers temperatures in the 70s.

Here’s what to know.

Heat advisory issued for NYC

Temperatures are expected to jump Thursday and Friday this week following near-perfect weather.

A heat advisory has been issued, beginning Thursday at noon, and will end Friday at 8 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.

Severe thunderstorms may also accompany the heat, the service said. A heat advisory is made when “the combination of heat and humidity is expected to make it feel like it is 95 to 99 degrees for two or more consecutive days, or 100 to 104 degrees for any length of time.”

Weather for NYC going into the weekend

Here’s the weather for the next few days, according to Accuweather:

Wednesday, June 10: high of 80 degrees, low of 72 degrees. Humid with possibility of thunderstorms

Thursday, June 11: high of 92 degrees, low of 75 degrees. Humid with possibility of “heavy” thunderstorms

Friday, June 12: high of 92 degrees, low of 71 degrees. “Heavy” thunderstorms possible

Saturday, June 13: high of 88 degrees, low of 71 degrees. Sunny and warm

Sunday, June 14: high of 88 degrees, low of 68 degrees. Partly sunny and warm
