STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Looking to track your loved one as they conquer the streets of five boroughs in the New York City Marathon? Well, there’s an app for that.
Using the New York Road Runners app, you can find out where your runner is, catch them at course milestones, and even get a first-hand view of them crossing the finish line in Central Park.
To download the app, all you have to do is search for it in either the Apple App Store or the Google Play store as either: NYRR or New York Road Runners.
From there, you can search for your runner and watch them from wherever you are on the course — or at home.
You can even track them via the live results website run by the marathon here: liveresults.nyrr.org.
The event kicks off, as always, on Staten Island, where runners will journey from Fort Wadsworth and cross the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge toward Brooklyn.
To accommodate the waves of runners during the marathon’s start, MTA Bridges and Tunnels will close the lower level of the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge to all non-emergency vehicular traffic between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Sunday.
Additionally, the upper level of the span will close in both directions beginning at 11 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 1, to allow for roadway preparation.
The marathon begins at 8 a.m. on Sunday, but groups of runners will continue to start in waves up until 11:30 a.m.
Keep in mind that dozens of streets across the five boroughs will be closed due to the marathon throughout the day.
