NEW YORK (WABC) — Eyewitness News had Sunday’s TCS New York City Marathon covered from start to finish.

Ryan Field and Sam Ryan anchored our special live coverage, while Michelle Charlesworth, Pedro Rivera, Kemberly Richardson, and Brittany Bell highlighted the excitement along the 26.2-mile route.

To celebrate 50 years of Good Morning America, another group of familiar faces got to run as a team for the GMA50 relay.

Mike Marza ran the whole race, but Liz Cho, Chanteé Lans, Dani Beckstrom, and Nina Pineda hit the ground at mile 20.

Pedro Rivera spoke with all of them.

“Just to have a little smidge of the taste of what it’s like to be in this marathon, is just exhilarating,” Cho said.

“This is perfect. This is why New York City is the best marathon of the entire year,” Beckstrom said.

Liz says she hopes to run a half marathon, and Dani says she wants to go all 26 miles next year.

The best part is that they ran for New York Road Runners Team for Kids.

This is a program that supports kids from an early age to get active.

They have after school programs as well as races in all five boroughs through the year, and they are all free.

The coolest part is that you have kids who never thought they could be runners all getting outside and enjoying putting one front in front of the other.

The New York Road Runners stage youth events encouraging and supporting boys and girls in their running journey and that’s who Eyewitness News ran for along with our colleagues at GMA.
