It’s finally summer in New York City, and that means things are heating up on and off stage. Magic was in the air as Gov Ball returned to the borough from Friday, June 5, to Sunday, June 7. The incredible performers and upbeat crowd electrified Flushing Meadows-Corona Park over the memorable three days, setting the gold standard for the festival season ahead.
Music was the name of the game. From a truly stunning performance from Absolutely to the passion and stage presence of Confidence Man, there was something for everyone on Friday. Other standout performances from the first day included The Dare, Katseye, Audrey Hobert, and Pierce The Veil. Fans in the crowd made sure to keep their energy levels up by sipping on special Malibu Pink cocktails.
An incoming storm could not stop the immaculate vibes at the Governors Ball on Saturday. The artists who performed gave their heart and soul to their dedicated fans, who kept the groovy vibes going from dusk till dawn. Jade LeMac made sure to start Gov Ball just right by bringing her stylish presence to the stage for an early crowd who came out specifically to see her. The dance party went on all day as Mazor Lazer and Midnight Generation kept the crowd bumping, rain or shine. Flowerovlove also showed the world why she is the real deal and will be a megastar for decades. Day 2 of the festival saw K-Pop idols Stray Kids headline with an explosive set that could not be missed.
A passing thunderstorm could not (and would not) stop the passion from the performers on stage, and the raw excitement from the phenomenal crowd who made this year’s last day of Gov Ball one for the books. The festival saw Slayyyter crush it on stage with a set that will keep everyone talking for years to come. Her fanbase came out and represented hard. Between Friends got everyone in the mood to bounce, Jennie lit up the main stage, and A$AP Rocky made a grand entrance for a headlining set that saw smoke, fire, and white t-shirts being thrown in the air.
