Early voting kicks off Saturday morning across New York City.

One of the competitive primaries includes the 6th Congressional District in Queens. This district includes all or parts of neighborhoods like Elmhurst, Corona, Forest Hills, Flushing, Fresh Meadows and Oakland Gardens.

Rep. Grace Meng, who currently represents the district, is facing a challenge from former diplomat Chuck Park as she seeks her eighth term.

She joined NY1’s Bobby Cuza on “Inside City Hall” Friday to discuss her reelection bid.

Meng became the first Asian American elected to the House of Representatives from New York in 2012.

“We are constantly out there reminding voters how we’re fighting for them. And making sure that we are not just telling them what good work we’re doing but also being good listeners,” she said. “And making sure under this tough time, under this Trump administration, that we’re doing everything we can to fight for our communities and to protect them.”
