Ithaca teachers could see average annual raises of 7% and longer workdays under a new tentative contract, according to The Ithaca Voice.

The deal adds 15–30 minutes of classroom time per day and introduces a “step and lane” salary system tied to experience and training. All teachers would get at least a 5% raise, with some seeing double-digit bumps. The district plans to invest $8.4 million in raises over three years.

Union members still need to vote, and some want the longer days delayed until next school year to avoid disrupting family routines.
