A Northern New York man was injured after police said he crashed into a mailbox and an unoccupied car in Moira on Saturday.The crash happened just before noon on State Route 95. Police said Terry French, 75, of Massena, was driving south when he lost control of his car and crashed into a mailbox and then a parked car.French was evaluated at the scene of the crash for injuries. New York State Police troopers said that while getting his driver’s license from the vehicle, they saw smoking devices with burnt residue inside the car sitting in plain view.French was taken to Alice Hyde Medical Center to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries. He was also given standardized field sobriety tests, which he failed, according to police. He later provided a blood sample to determine his drug and/or alcohol content.Specific charges have not been filed at this time.
