In celebration of the New York Knicks winning the NBA Finals, Nike is allowing fans to create their own team and city-themed sneakers through its Nike By You platform.
The Nike Air Force 1 Low “NYC” hosts embroidery of its namesake initials on its lateral heels and can be personalized with an abundance of color combos. Knicks blue and orange are available alongside black and white for all of the sneaker’s elements, from the upper down to the sole unit. Gold options are also added for the NYC logo, Swoosh and mustache branding, while the midsole and outsole can be rendered in classic gum.
Nike previously held a surprise release for a Knicks-themed Air Force 1 in New York City only on the day the team clinched its spot in the Finals before a wider release came online. That iteration carried the same NYC mark on the tongue and heel, but apart from the logo placements fans could now make a nearly identical pair for themselves.
Famous Knicks fans Spike Lee and Fat Joe were both treated by Jordan Brand to custom Air Jordans in team colors. Both got individual takes on the Air Jordan 3 featuring their respective logos, and the rapper got an Air Jordan 1 Low as well.
As he traveled to San Antonio to watch game 5, Timothée Chalamet was given a pair of custom Bape Stas also in Knicks colors. And in his game-winning performance in the previous contest, OG Anunoby donned player-exclusive Skechers sneakers with the team treatment.
For public consumption, Vans released a blue and orange checkerboard Slip-On, and Kith took pre-orders for a Knicks-themed Air Max 95 that had previously only gone on sale in kids’ sizing.
The Nike Air Force 1 Low “NYC” customization options are open now on Nike By You for a limited time, as well as at Nike SoHo beginning Tuesday. Pricing is set at $140, with delivery to be fulfilled in up to 10 weeks.
