Club Rawhide has been launched by Bob Fluet and Rob Hynds. The 160-capacity space, per community board filings, houses a sound system designed by Scott Clungan and will feature an installation celebrating Chelsea nightlife history from Michael Musto.

The Carry Nation and Junior M headlined the opening night last Friday, June 12th, with DJ Miss Parker performing the following night. More DJ lineups are TBA.

The club’s namesake, Rawhide, was a historic gay bar open from 1979 to 2012. Though this new club is not directly attached, it attributes the name and spirit to the original Rawhide bar. The area was home to some of New York’s most renowned nightclubs, including The Roxy, Tunnel and Twilo.

“Manhattan and more specifically Chelsea laid the groundwork for music, culture, nightlife and gay rights,” said Patrick Crough, the club’s producer and creative director. “With this project, we’re paying homage to much more than just Rawhide. This is a tribute to all the bars and clubs throughout the decades when Rawhide was open—an origin story for so much of what we hear, see and feel on dance floors all across the world now.”
