NATIONWIDE — THE TRUMP ADMINISTRATION on Monday dropped its appeal of a court ruling that had invalidated the president’s sweeping blockade of new wind energy projects, according to New York Attorney General Letitia James. The administration’s move handed a “final victory” to James and 17 other state attorneys general, who sued last year to block the directive.
“New York’s wind projects will create jobs, strengthen our economy and bring down New Yorkers’ electric bills. My office will continue to fight any attempt to undermine that progress,” James said in a celebratory release.
According to Politico’s E&E News, the Interior Department did not provide an explanation for why it was abandoning the case.
Half a million homes in Brooklyn will eventually be connected to the offshore wind energy grid via the massive port project at the South Brooklyn Marine Terminal in Sunset Park, the Brooklyn Eagle reported in January.
