A shelter-in-place advisory has been issued in the Village of Bergen within a half-mile radius of 15 Church Street due to a hazardous materials leak, according to Genesee County officials.
A sheriff’s department lieutenant says up to 30,000 gallons of ammonia leaked on Wednesday.
Residents are being advised to stay indoors, close all windows and doors, turn off air conditioners and avoid the area.
The Genesee County Hazmat Team, the Bergen Fire Department and Mercy Medic 1 are all responding to the scene.
